This is down to the superiority of the blade steel and hand manufacturing process. It shouldn’t be possible to make a blade from such hard stainless ZDP189 super steel but Rockstead do and the results are astonishing.

The pristine mirror surface on Rockstead knives continues to the edge of the blade. Under a microscope the difference becomes apparent. The tip of the blade of a Rockstead is smooth under the closest of scrutiny, while other knives become jagged as you inspect them.

The blade shape is unique too. Rockstead have adapted the shape of the traditional Japanese sword blade to all their knives. They have the two most important features of a quality blade — strength and cutting ability. The grind angle is a unique convex shape that gradually reduces in angle from 30° to 24° degrees at the tip. 

This Rockstead Higo II showcases dry carbon fiber handle scales adorned with a Camo Gold finish. The subtle texture on the scales creates lines that are natural in shape – creating a finish that is almost rustic in its detail.
